Improperly Annealed Roosevelt ???

Hey All,

Not versed on this subject, but can a 2014 Roosevelt Dime be improperly annealed? This was found in my Wife's pocket change. I noticed it because it was very dark and shiny. Through the loupe it looks to be in the metal so anyway here is the pics and even notice the reeding it is dark and shiny as well.

I think it is neat as well, reminds of the ones (nickels) they call Black Beauty.
I was hoping due to the reeding it would be the giveaway as to which it is though. If toning, would it cause the whole color on the rim to be shiny blk, but not the copper?

make sure the coin looks copper colored, I posted a black beauty canadian nickel, very important, for the copper core to show though, thats what makes them a black beauty

Please take a look at the rim (not reeding) the copper seems to show through. My first thought it was in a fire because it looked so dark and then when the light hit it, I saw it shine. Looks neat with no apparent damage. I don't know much about them, but I read that they can be black, red, brown or mostly copper-if I am reading what Mike Diamond wrote correctly. I must echo the uncertainty voiced by found-in-rolls. I'm not sure if it's an improperly annealed planchet or a coin that acquired an odd pattern of toning. A close inspection might tease apart these two possibilities.
