I found a really ugly, beat to hell coin while roll hunting today, and I can't quite tell what is going on with it. Weighs in at 2.44 grams on my digital reloading scale, so it's not plated. It seems that the copper and silver areas are about even, so it doesn't seem to be missing some major layer that I can tell. The deterioration is pretty bad, so maybe someone did some experimentation with it, but then again, the detail on the lettering in the silvery area is pretty crisp where it hasn't been beaten up. Since it already looks like crap, I took the liberty of giving it one more deep scratch to see if the silvery area was this color throughout, and it is. Is this a case of bad plating, or is it something else? I know this probably is completely worthless, so comments about its worthlessness are not necessary. I am really just trying to figure out what the heck this is. Thanks!
