I found this on the ground in Boston last year and just found it again in my purse (completely forgot about it. I looked it up and it looks like a Judea Capta coin. It has glue all over it and I don't know a thing about coins- ancient or modern! Please confirm this is a fake. I did look up how to spot a forgery. It weighs 27 g and is about 30 mm.
I agree with others. Tree is wrong, lettering is wrong, Judea is wrong, everything about this coin would not fool an ancient collector, let alone other telltale signs. Coins with ancient jewish references are about the most commonly faked ancient coins.
It seemed unlikely that a 2000 year old coin would just be laying on a Boston street! But it's interesting, and now I know something I didn't know before.
@Chrissye I'm shamefully guilty of throwing all types of fake errors, counterfeit pirate treasure, etc. on beaches, department store floors, bus aisles, in front of my coin shop, etc. almost what seems like a hundred times in my youth. It was fun to watch the results! PS Your coin is not 2000 years old.
