Back in April my web host changed, everything that was in the Scottish directory got deleted - I have to use FTP to upload everything again which I did with the .html files but the images are more of a pain because they got mixed in with several hundred other images on my backup. Everything that was in the banknote files got moved also - but those images are still there.

One of my Irish friends in high school used to say "Miracles never cease" in her brogue - I remember how she said it even today whence I occasion Tim's threads. I am trying so hard to be helpful and a wee bit less deprecatory...

Depends what you have. What world coin collecting means to you? What is "old coin" for you? For me everything newer than year 1700 is new. I have few of this, but I don't like collecting this new coins (exceptions exists). It's borring and almost nothing you can learn to be better collector. Every begginer with money can find on the internet what is valuable and what isn't.

I have to disagree. While most of my coins are ancients, I strongly disagree nothing new can be learned about more modern coins. In every field of numismatics there are discoveries to be had, in depth knowledge to be gained. Anyone who thinks all there is to know about modern coi s is found in a Krause catalog is very sadly mistaken.

I don't think that nothing can be learned about more modern coins, I think the amount of knowledge is lower. For absolute begginer it's easier to start collect US coins than ancients coins. It's much more easier because of grading companies. This is why US coins are more expensive than ancient.
