Message:: [QUOTE="wiggam007, post: 1115877, member: 18436"]I've told this story before, but might as well tell it again: I went to a local auction a few years ago to check out their coins.  This auction house usually has a lot of junk and cleaned coins, but every now and again you can find a good deal.  I was looking at the listing of lots and found one labeled "Israel Mint Sets and Coins."  Not one to hate on foreign coins, I decided to take a look at it to see what was in it.  There were the packaged mint sets and a few loose coins, but the two that caught my eye were two coins from Bahrain that had a compass and a sundial on them.  I thought these looked pretty cool, and they looked like silver to boot so I decided I could spend up to 20 bucks on the lot and still come out all right.  Well, it came up to bid and I won it for 15 dollars so I felt I was doing pretty good.  I got home and started going through the bag and checking out the coins.  Sure enough, the silver coins were worth about $10 each so I was already ahead 5 bucks.  Well, I got to the bottom of the bag and found another coin.  It was fairly large and gold colored which made my mind immediately jump, thinking it was a gold coin.  But, I figured who would put a gold coin in the bag, it is probably just a gold plated silver piece or something.  After some research, I found it.  It was a 500 Lirot Gold Israeli coin, about .8 agw.  Still my best find to date.[/QUOTE]
