Hi All, I have always been a US collector. I started with Walking halves, then Franklin's and then the Dansco 7070. It took me quite a few years to finish the 7070, but in the end I was unsure where to go next. Having very few graded coins I decided to move forward with a high end type set. Or atleast as high end as I could afford. This meant only 2-3 coins a year on my minimal budget, but quality over quantity right? After a couple years I found that while buying nice coins was fun. I was buying many types more to fill a hole than because I truly enjoyed the coin. This obviously then felt like wasted funds. The pandemic hit and shows and such stopped. I've never purchased much coin wise online so my collection was pretty stagnant. At the same time, every time @lordmarcovan posted his Eclectic box, I would just stare and wonder at the variety of amazing and beautiful designs. I had never collected foreign coins aside from 1oz silvers (Eagle, Maple leaf, Panda, etc.). I had some foreign stuff passed to me from my grandfather from his time in the Navy which I thought was neat but never really explored. Well recently I have decided to overhaul my collection. I am keeping my 7070 (all raw) as that was my 1st major accomplishment in the hoby, but many other coins will soon be sold off and funds allocated to coins which truly speak to me. Finally to the reason I am excited.... I have been searching around on ebay the few weeks at many ancients and medieval coins. I found one that I had to have. This coin holds a lot of firsts for me: 1st graded foreign Oldest coin I own 1st Thaler (1/24 to be exact) And to top it all off, my 1st top pop! Coin is not in-hand yet. Should be here in a few days so these are the seller's pics. Silver 1/24 Thaler, 1641, NGC AU58 I made several offers to the seller and got a fair price based on my research. This will be the first of many new additions, but making this choice if the best choice I've made in this hobby. Thank you lordmarcovan for the inspiration!
