Yeah, I think items selling for less than $28.42 will cost sellers less in transaction fees, and items costing $28.42 and higher will cost sellers more.
Ebay didn't create Paypal. Paypal started up on its own. Ebay actually advised buyers NOT to sign up with Paypal when it first started being used on ebay, and that it was some form of scam. As Paypal became more and more successful ebay created their own online payment service, but since everyone was already using Paypal Ebay's service flopped. So Ebay bought Paypal. Then as mentioned years later spun it off again to its own stand alone business.
That sounds about right, I am surprised they're planning to be so aggressive with their fee though. That's going to be a disaster if they try and only allow their version, unless of course the big sellers will have a different fee structure like usual
I've got boatloads of stuff to list on eBay and will continue to do so until they cut me off by making paying more difficult/expensive.
I have a Paypal account already, and almost every business I deal with (ebay and elsewhere) accept Paypal. Why would I want to change to this other service? Unless ebay forces sellers to stop accepting paypal I don't think the new service will do well.
Surely you jest? To name a few: Heritage Auctions, Legend Rare Coin Auctions, Stack’s Bowers, David Lawrence RC, USA Coinbook.
Ebay needs to decide what they want to do. Don't allow both. I tried to pay for something the other day and it wouldn't take the PayPal option. It's not an inconvenience but I would rather as a seller use the money out of my PayPal account to pay for something. Makes life easier for me. I don't need another option. Just me though..........
It's one thing if a seller doesn't want to take PayPal, but if eBay got rid of PayPal entirely it would be devastating to their bottom line. They can keep adding options to try and ween their dependence of PayPal but they aren't even close to a position where they could dump PayPal
I agree. It will take years and it looks as if they are heading down that road. I haven't researched a whole lot about this new way. I just found out the other day when I went to buy a business card holder and could only use apple pay. Is this an ebay company or is it a different animal entirely?
It's either a partnership or an eBay thing, either way eBay is getting a cut and has a vested personal interest in it. They may have more success with it internationally but with the aggressive fees I don't see a bright future domestically
So eBay wants a larger cut of the pie for most items for an inferior service. Will sellers be forced to accept Ayden? If so, eBay will take a major hit.
