Never have any luck in my area of the world in finding silver or any other cool coins at banks , I was at a local auction a few years ago and ran into a bank manager of a local bank, this guy had worked at this bank for 25 years & said he had a hoard of gold , silver and error coins,$ 2 1/2, $ 10 gold & went on & on , kind of made me sick . It wasn't hard to figure out his retirement plan : )
Noost, That is way cool. You gave them 2 coins that they may have never seen and a $2 bill!! Then you talked to them about the coins and currency. If you didn't start those kids on their way to being coin collectors the I'll be dipped in ****. Way to go. Those kids selling blueberries or whatever were probably so intrigued by the effort you made that they will now look at every coin that crosses their fingers. They may not know what they are looking at but they are now looking. Hope you've started a trend. Bruce
I went to the bank and tried to get the 3 ikes that were in the till. The cashier told me no. "i am getting those for myself":crying:
Is that fair customer service practice? allowed? call the branch manager over and demand those Ikes. LOL!
Nice Talon head Bruce. A very nice and easy variety to spot. This is an undervalued and under recognized series that will surely explode in the next 10 years. Ikes in high grades are already starting to rise in price and are quite difficult to find.
Thanks Joe. I'll try to post a better photo of the hairlip but it's so hard to see in hand that I'm not sure I could capture it with my camera. Maybe, it's time to break out the: Da Da Dah...QX5...Da Da Dah. and take some microscopic views of these coins. (Don't mind the sound effects) I know you and Ruben are much more into this series than I am. I'll also post the last couple of Ikes I got from the bank teller. Maybe a Friendly Eagle Variety? or maybe not. Always good to hear from you, Joe, and any Ike collectors. LATER, Bruce
if the bank have one ike and one 2 dollar bill. and you only allow to choose one. which one you get?.
Always the Ike, Coin more than 30 years old,Scorned by most dealers as junk, Multiple clad combination's for certain years, Varieties rivaling Morgans in there numbers many unknown as of date. More being found all the time by average Joe collectors.Oh and Very hard to find in high grades Yea I'll take the Ike
