Haha. I admit I may have been wrong on that one. I still think you could say things differently, but
You'll never convince someone to change their opinion if your approach is to slap them in the face. You immediately put them on the defensive and shut them down.

    Why are you defending them?

IMO, this is an old wives tale: "You'll never convince someone to change their opinion if your approach is to slap them in the face. You immediately put them on the defensive and shut them down."

IMO, some nonsense needs to be "shut-down" as fast as possible. Ever hear of a "Motivation Platoon?" Ever hear of arguing with a fool?

It sure is lucky I ain't in charge around here. Otherwise, I'd spend my entire day with PM's to help guide some of those "flashes-in-the-pan" rather than posting. I can be a real sweetheart :cat: one-on-one when someone wishes to learn. :angelic:

Otherwise, when someone starts posting nonsense and attacks knowledgeable numismatists or myself, the gloves come off.:rage::punch:

One thing for is sure, you haven't seen me in my sarcastic, attack-to-destroy/humiliate mode since joining and getting banned. :shame: I like this place too much.

This wouldn't happen if there was a thumbs down button to rate the post. That way new users could see that most think that the post was foolish and just ignore it as not being valid. This would have its own set of problems I'm sure, but I've see it done on some automotive forums quite successfully. And besides, it's way too much fun to mess with the mods ;) (especially Doug).

Or if they stick to their rules of suspending or banning members that do nothing but disrupt. I know it's a slippery slope but this guy is an obvious troll that should have been suspended straight away like a certain other member who never posts pics and just causes chaos but always gets a pass.

Absolutely! Not posting photos to a photography forum really should be a ban-worthy offense. Oops... my bad; this is the one is intended for coin discussion.

Come to think of it, Doug very rarely posts photos, nor does gemmy. In fact, I don't recall Peter posting many either, so all things considered, perhaps they should be the first to go?
