Are you serious with the "axe" and "axed"? I don't usually say anything when grammar is poor but you're not even close.
When I was in high school my friends and I would go to mcdonalds and pay with a mix of sba's, Ike's and halfs. They never figured it out on the first try. They would always have to have the manager come over and ok the sale
The paper wrappers are available. Wizard sells them at $2.25 per hundred. SUPPOSED to, no. But most do just because they don't want to handle them. I think you could IF you could get the banks to take a little initiative. The problem is that the standard order form typically has a line for each denomination, but does not have a line for the large size dollar (it does have a line for the small size). But if you can get the ordering person to WRITE in that they want the large size dollars you can probably get them. After all they didn't melt them down, so the Fed is probably sitting on a bunch of them and they would probably be happy to get rid of them. The problem. The use of axe and axed for ask and asked first seemed to appear among the less educated black community (See Ebonics). Then it seemed to become a dialectical difference from the northeast, especially the New York area. Now it seems to be spreading and becoming more widespread unfortunately.
Let's clarify that the New York area for this grammatical foi pas is the New York city area, including the 5 boroughs. Western, Central, and Adirondack area of New York, we don't use that kind of slang.
I assume you meant faux pas... as for Upstate NY, anyone from NYC considers Albany, Adirondack, etc to be parts of Pennsylvania and NJ.
again, my problem isnt obtaining ike dollars. i have talked to the head teller at UMB and they have no problem ordering me a bag every week. my problem is dumping them. all the banks in my area require coins to be rolled, but none of them that i have been to so far have the wrappers. also i dont have any sort of credit card and my parents wont let me a) set up a debit card/paypal or b) use theirs, so ordering online doesnt help, what i need to know of a bank that still has wrappers for eisenhower dollars. i dont think the banks will let me make my own rolls out of brown construction paper, i've tried it.
Ask the banks in your area if they have rolls or have your parents buy you some. It shouldn't be that big a deal. The paper rolls are available on ebay and other online sources.
this is what i have been doing, my parents wont buy me any, and i've been to 4 banks- 2 BOA branches, UMB, and First Federal, and none of those have them. i havent had an opportunity to get to any other banks yet, this is why i need to know which banks usually have them. i heard that Wells Fargo has them, but the nearest one is 45 minutes away. this week i'll go to USbank, the other UMB branch, and any other banks i can find
Here is a thought. They have this thing called snail mail. Consider ordering the wrappers from a supplier OFF-LINE and paying for it with a Money order if you have to. Or you say you have a $25 prepaid American Express. You could possibly order them on line using that.
I went and looked at my IKE s, and found a solution. The person turning these into the local bank had no wrappers so they made their own. The wrapper is a piece of 4x5 stiffer paper so the ends could just be folded, They used no tape , just folds. They ran a strip of adhesive ( grey line on right end, so the other end making the cylinder could be attached. The $20 DOLLARS was stamped on, but a computer printer would do as well. You could even type in your account number for when you turn them in ( most banks require this is my area). I would use a slightly off white/beige color so you could recognize your own rolls . Almost free. The B+ is my label to indicate they were worth keeping for a while, he "C" coins I spent 20 years ago.
As long as Desertgem is right on that 4X5 size you should be able to pretty easily do up a page on a word processor and put four of those on a page. (I'd print them as just the text on colored paper and save on ink.)
I am not sure I would put the "Searched" on it. You should be able to tell by the color and ant extra information may make the teller more hesitant to take them. You could just put "Bank of Logan" on it Now someone will make a wrapper for "BANK of ITALY, San Francisco" and put a 1904 IHC on one end of a roll and a 1909 on the other and hit ebay.
well, turns out my parent will only let me print ONE page of them, even black & white . good thing i have a typewriter.
