Of course, things were a lot less complex when I started collecting in the early 50&#039;s. Much less emphasis on grade… just find the coin in circulation and pop it into the Whitman folder. About three or four of my friends were really into collecting, and they got me hooked. There was always plenty of friendly competition trying to get the most spaces filled. So I never was a “solitary” collector back in those days; and nowadays (with the internet and forums like CT) there are plenty of friends to share the hobby with you.
