very cool mat, i've been had my eye on this coin type for about a year now. certainly on my list, as soon as i see one for the right price (and at the right time) i'm going to get one
That's a very neat coin, Mat (congrats) ... ummm, but I'm having a bit of trouble spotting the chick on the reverse (is she swimming?)
I am familiar with a smattering of Islamic coins, like Arab sassanid, Arab byzantine, and turkomen bronzes. I just haven't jumped in on the rest. I do know the square shape is very common on north African and Spanish IslaMic coins. Cool pickup.
I did find a little more information on the type from a listing on Vcoins. http://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/dav...re_ar_dirham_north_africa/569714/Default.aspx
