Trime Obv.jpg Trime Rev.jpg Trime date 1.jpg Trime date 2.jpg Trime Obv.jpg Trime Rev.jpg Trime date 1.jpg Trime date 2.jpg I picked up an 1855 silver three cent piece. Upon examining it with a 45X loupe, I noticed the date seemed to be repunched. I can't find any documented Trimes for 1855 with a repunched date, like an 1855/54 or similar.

So I wonder if perhaps I have a counterfeit where someone repunched the date themselves so they could sell it for more $$$$. Please observe the photos and let me know what you think. The numbers in question are the two 55's. Its definately not machine doubling, and I know the US Mint was actively repunching other denominations of silver coins in 1855.

So, if you have the Trime, please tell me your opinion. Thanks much!

Smash those staples with a plier so they won't scratch other coins when they are moved around. They can scratch right through the film and even tear it.
