Then, it took another month to persuade the shop owner to sell it to me. Does it have to be a coin? I have hundreds of coins and have many that I enjoy but for some odd reason I am more fond of these three guys. They aren't money so the only reason they exist is to honor the person. All 3 of these guys changed the world, one paying the ultimate sacrifice for doing so. They have provoked more thought than any coin I own with the one on the right being my favorite.

To me if it weren't for Sir Isaac Newton,
Ben Franklin should be the most interesting guy in the world.

I got it from my grandmother around 1972, and it likely came from the guy below, my great-x-grandfather Civil War veteran. It sat in my collection for over 40 years before I determined that it is a contemporary counterfeit.

My favorite has to be this 83 Lincoln FS-801. An extremely hard example to find raw. And I expect it to stay this way for many years to come.
Why? The majority of my favorites are toned examples, I am a Variety nut at heart. I wish I could say that I cherry picked this example. I didn't I just happened to walk in the coin shop minutes after the dealer bought this coin. I made him an offer he couldn't refuse, as he already had another buyer in mind. It was only by chance that I acquired it without paying an amount that I couldn't afford.

Additionally, it is a "smoothed" coin, which I had never seen outside of ancient coins (the fields are shaved to make them smooth). This is what would get me in trouble. I see the clashes, but wouldn't have even looked for smoothing.

Ok, here goes. I like this 1885cc. It isn’t the most expensive coin I own, or have owned. It isn’t the highest grade, nor the most attractive in terms of eye appeal. I own PL coins that have more eye appeal. However, it is a harder date CC Morgan, that happens to be PL. I just have a fondness for it.

I'm sure it's my imagination, but it appears to me it might be a double strike, with the first strike almost obliterated by the second. I think I see remnants of a star and 4 in the fields.

Nope. Not a double strike. Proofs of Morgans often have die artifacts. I see a few minor artifacts, as well as the striations, which are typical. Beautiful Morgan proof.
