I would say that is true for the "investor" types. But for average collectors like you and I/ most who post on CT/ the main reason behind our passion is the pleasure we derive from our collections. Eric Newman was an example of a very rich man/ who was a true coin collector. He probably holds the record for being involved in coins for 100 years. The "Tyrant" another true collector. The only "negative" to having that kind of money, is that I would spend most of the day glued to sixbid/ looking for desirable targets/ then sitting thru the drawn out auction to win them. Of course you still have to be carefull not to bid at all costs/ the money would runout quickly. A Billion is only 1000 Millio n/ there are thousands of Million dollar + coins out there/ some into 10+ territory. I would not be stupid to spend 20M on a 33 Double Eagle/ I am happy with a MS-66+ 1927 ex. at $2200 I would spend a M on a 1683 Michal Apafi AV 100 Dukaten (Transylvania) or 100K+ for Postumus/ Laelinus/ Quintillus/ Alexander of Carthage Aurei in MS. But, I would still collect MS gold in the 500-1000 range. Also, my collection would be housed in a special secure room/ so I could look at them every day

My ultimate Holy Grail" coin would be the Kingdom of Aragon AV 50 Enriques struck by Enrique IV in 1471.
