I really hate biddr for their stupid I am not a robot quiz. If I owned an auction site I would want everyone to look at my coins. Seems biddr has a problem when you are interested in their material. It turns a lot of potential bidders off.
If certain websites give you issues, my guess is that you are using either the Microsoft Edge browser (which is the default browser any personal computer with the Windows operating system comes installed with) or the Google Chrome browser, so try installing this: https://brave.com/ If you successfully installed it, then the icon with the lion should appear, and then you access the internet through that and try and see if the websites that are now giving you trouble still do it.
Funny as much as I love coin collecting I have a hard relating to having unlimited funds for all the coins I know about that I would like to own. So I'll say I would spend zero on coins, and about 55 years ago this is what I would have done. Spent half on wine, women, and song. The rest I would just blow.
Yeah, as a US collector, I'd be more inclined to put together a team of lobbyists and/or a set of "campaign contributions" to get the dead presidents off coins and currency and get Liberty back onto all of them.
Well to be honest first on the list is a new house with a good security system to keep the coins in lol. I think I'd have plenty left over after that for some coins too... But more to the spirit of the question, one thing I've been interesting in collecting, if money were no object, would be classic US gold coins, and British gold sovereigns. And yeah probably a few ancients, but tbh I don't know a lot about them. But I know what I like, and there are quite a few I would like. But I'm really into variety, and my collection even as it is has more breadth than depth, so... having those kind of resources what I'd add to the collection would be all over the map.
With unlimited $$$$= 1 Quadrillion euros...... I would have gobs of fun ...... Build a 35K sq. ft. baroque style villa on a beautifull waterfront with 100 acres of landscaping. 25 classic US cars from 50/60s perfect quality. Use half that amt. to win every MS gold coin on all auction sites/ get all Weatherby Mark V rifles from .224 to the big boomer .460 magnum. Do all the free stuff too/ like weights/ walking/ exercise to keep body in top shape.
CNG would grade that coin VF at best. Ars Classica sold a FDC Majorian Solidus for 25K. This is why a Billion is not enough/ one could spend that in one year on sixbid.
Probably, but gold coins of Majorian are rare to begin with, and those in acceptable condition are even rarer, so I am more flexible in regards to the condition of his gold coins than I am of those that appear 50-100 times a year at various auctions. In reality, I am almost certainly never going to buy a Gold Solidus of his, I don't plan on breaking the 10000 EUR barrier for a single coin, and there a few coins (like a Gold Aureus of Diocletian from the Siscia mint for example) that I would even consider breaking that barrier for, and a Gold Solidus of Majorian isn't one of them, maybe I will get lucky and a Gold Tremissis of his in good condition will appear somewhere for a non-insane price.
I was able to get a MS Anthemius solidus from Roma for 3200UK pds/ also a Severus III EF+/MS from Olso event for 4500US. Saw a Olycerius AV Solidus once it went for 600K
The biggest bargain for me so far has probably been winning this unique Zand Gold 1/2 Mohur of Karim Khan Zand (minted in Isfahan) for 400 CHF:
