Identify that Damage! Episode 4: In God We Rust

    I've got a couple of coins that have turned a nasty iron oxide-brown. I guess it's missing the clad layer? If not, I'm not sure how this would happen.

    Not missing clad, just environmental damage. It could have been caused in millions of ways. Spend them and forget about them.

    Throw a few coins in the grass and find them a year later. Some will look like this.

    They each look like environmental damage. I don't see evidence of missing the clad layer (which is a fairly uncommon error).
