Idea to Protect Sellers on eBay

If eBay added, say, 0-10 to this buyer requirement restriction below it will probably help a lot. Right now, the highest feedback score allowed is -1. I thought it was higher than that.

Or, they could just require all buyers and sellers be verified. All problems solved.

 

But even verified buyers and sellers can be problematic...

 

I once heard of a website called "dontdatehimgirl.com" or something of the like. I imagine there are some who just want to put the hurt on others. I think it would be a bad idea for eBay to do this, but maybe they could keep a marker for people blocked on several occasions and flag them...?

 

You all might be looking for a mythical Ebay Shangri la. Basically it sounds like a lot of you will never be happy.

 

One problem with a "block this buyer" list is that whoever hosts it leaves himself open to a lawsuit. A good buyer or good seller list you can probably get away with, but start keeping a list of bad buyers or seller and you may find yourself being charged with libel or slander. Typically a forum site can get away with having shall we say uncomplimentary remarks posted because the courts have rules in the past that the site owner isn't responsible for the postings of others. But if they assemble and host a list of say bad buyers then the site can be seen as being responsible for those negative comments and someone on the list can claim injury and sue the site owner. That is why you typically won't see a forum site host such a list.

Websites that DO keep negative reports on things like that typically want full identification of the person making the report so if someone does come after them they can tell them exactly who said it so they can go after them instead.
