Actually it was several different guys going to different areas, Revere made it to Lexington but was detained on his way to Concord and never finished the ride. The ride was actually finished and Concord warned by Samuel Prescott.

Meanwhile the big battle was in Brooklyn ;)

The Revolution was won and lost on a single day in Brooklyn...

    and we get ZERO credit.

Battle of Brooklyn Heights. Like the Germans did at Dunkirk, the British missed an opportunity to end the revolution, all because they allowed an army to escape and live to fight another day.

Perhaps more properly the Battle of Brooklyn since is covered nearly the entire borough

The largest engagement of the Revolutionary War. Natives found cannon balls and skulls around the fiellds of this early American Bread Basket into the 20th Century. Lost nearly the entire Maryland regiment, 256 soldiers burried under the streets of Brooklyn on an unknown and unmarked grave to allow for the Army to retreat and survive.

Another Icon of America might be the steam boat. Fulton Steam Boat.

But that was fifteen months later. If Lexington and Concord had not been warned the war would have either been over before it began, may have started much later, or might have had a totally different outcome. If the British had been able to come in, round up the leadership and capture the arms stockplies we might still be a British Commonwealth.

Ruben, what are your thoughts for using some new classic designs on the eagles? I'd really like to see the SQL design struck with todays tech.

The discussion on the bimetallic coins really got me excited about the design possibilities for new coins. We dont even need new concepts, because the new metals would add an entirely new twist to the liberty, stars, eagles ect... theme. Of course, I have no faith Congress would allow nice designs through. I fully expect the next dollar to celebrate the pioneer in the trans-gender movement and get their hormone enhanced face on a coin. We'll probably see Al Sharpton on a coin first.

That said what are some realistic metal combinations?

Here are some of the makeups we've already used. Any others?

    Golden dollar comp

    steel

    copper

    copper zinc

    nickel

    cupro nickel or clad?

I just don't want to revisit old designs and get NEW ONES!

We have millions of Artists in the country who can make great NEW designs which can be designed out of the gate for the new technology and new metals that we use!

Bimetals are great! We're using them anyway as clads.

How about something like with with a Green Liberty which might even age and wear into a greener tone as time goes on. That would be a great Bimetal design..
