ICG-slabbed "clash" determined to be a squeeze job

    Numismania You hockey puck!!

Anyone have the key? I can see this getting locked too. It just got hip deep in the 'muddy', and I'll step in it first.

Rascal, we made peace over this, but I just can't let this go..when TWO, not one, but TWO experts agree on something, how can you disagree with both??? Not EVERYONE can be wrong and you are the ONLY person to be right.

If you believed BJ would side with Mike BEFORE you let him see it, why on earth would you let him see it to begin with??? Why didn't you just let it alone and be the only one here, and now, apparently in the whole error world, that believes it's a MAJOR clashed die error??? If you were so confident in it being such a great clashed die, and know that it absolutely is exactly what you think it is (and obviously you are the ONLY one that thinks it is), due to your extensive knowledge, why on earth would you let someone look at it? If you know more than Mike and BJ, why aren't people sending YOU errors to verify?

This really is my only comment, as I'm not putting myself out to get banned over a clearly damaged coin, but...if you can argue/disagree with not one, but two experts, you'll argue/disagree with 100. If you are so certain it's a great error, why not just send it to a REPUTABLE grading service and see what they say????? You won't, though, as you'll just argue/disagree with their assessment, when the won't grade it. Just give it up...it's damaged, ICG did NOT get it right, and you spent $15 on a squeezed, damaged coin. Face the truth...it's only a $15 lesson.

End of story, end of my post, end of my participation in this thread, end of my participation/interest (lack of) about this damage piece of...... metal.

Did you by chance send in that other smashed coin you claimed was a major mint error as well???

Yes I had someone look at it and did I ever say it was a major error ? I don't remember it if I did because a struck thru die cap coin is not a major error in my opinion.. Here's what his opinion of it was..

As for the 1978 cent, it looks to me like it was struck through a late stage
capped die where the cap was moving out of the centered position. I'd agree
that it is a mint error.

EDIT; If I'm remembering right I never claimed that coin to be a major error , What I said was that it was a unusal one and it truely is unusal.

Was it BJ who stated this?... because I'm having trouble believing that.

I never discussed this coin with BJ and had no idea that he had examined it. So his conclusions are entirely independent of mine.

It might be more accurate to say "One wants it Not to end." <------ and that would be you. I can say that IMO, 99.9999999% of all CT members want this to end.:dead-horse:

Kasia you should have read the entire thread before trying to down me. Go back and look at the first post , I'm not the one that authored this thread . actually I thought everyone was bored with this coin . if this thread bothers anyone then just ignore it.

Thank you, Rascal. I know you didn't start this thread. I thought it was dead and gone, until there was an "update". However, the reason I said what I did is because of your response to it. It just seems to me that I think I'm fairly going to be able to predict the dialog that goes on by you now that your attention to this has been gotten. I am not here to 'down you' I was just responding to your jocularity in posting that no one wants to see it end. I think that is far from the truth. I am and am willing to have other posts by you, I have nothing against that. But sometimes it should be a direct response and the direct response of you saying that no one wants it to end is inaccurate in my estimation. I will probably sit back and laugh a bit, but whatever, at least I'm being honest about that. And it will mostly be because the coin in question really doesn't deserve more space on the interwebs than it has already gotten. The dead horse icon was my way of saying enough is enough. I don't care who started this, you know that a lot of people on CT tend to throw verbal stuff at you and others. That doesn't matter that much. Why not just accept that and go on with other coins. You've actually been right about some other ones on here. This one not so much.

I have no hard feelings for you personally, but I won't be surprised if I get more platitudes and generalizations with assumptions from you. As I said, whatever.

I, for one, am glad that Troy sent the coin to BJ and take just a bit of exception to the folks that questioned his reasoning in doing this.

He was encouraged to send the coin in to CONECA.

As for sending the coin to a TPG? ICG has already shown that mistakes can be made and Mike has observed the same type of mistakes from the other TPG's.

    An Oops Example:
    Kennedy 1965 Slabbed as 1967 24066731 PCGS MS66 Slab Obv-15.jpg

    Mistakes do happen.

I think I'd like to see Fred Weinbergs opinion. He is a member of CONECA but hasn't participated in any of the threads regarding this piece either here of on the CONECA Forums. He's also seen just about everything there is to see in the "error" arena as well. What do you say Troy?

BTW, Congrats on getting your other piece attributed.
