I found this new variety for the 1938 1 Eyrir a while back. While looking thru a lot of 1 Eyrir's I got from a seller in Iceland I noticed that one of the 8's in the coin looked a little bit different so I broke out the dino-lite and took a closer look at this is what I found. As you can see the first 8 is upright and above the 3 in the date while the 8 in the second picture is about even with the 3 put slightly slanted to the right with what looks like doubling inside the upper loop of that 8 , Which I think accord when they punched the date into the die. This type is not noted in any book that I'm aware of. Icelandic coins from the Copenhagen mint was notorious for sloppy work back then. If you can shed any light on the subject of the Copenhagen mint and how they produced coins in the past would be great.
