    I compare their toning material to shoe polish. I am quite sure that acetone can lift it.

    What I always notice is that smoky, gray look. Any coin with that is instantly suspect to me. It's almost always clearer in the middle, then darker towards the edges.Then I look further to confirm my suspicions.
