I concur with Vegas Vic no way in heck those labels ever make the coin more valuable in the long run, its hype that eventually the market will fall out on like beanie babies, comic books from the 1990's and baseball cards.
HJB is a very reputable company. It is 100% a mistake, that's all. https://www.harlanjberk.com/ There are certainly other eBay sellers that do what you are suggesting, but not HJB.
They CAN prove the $10M 1794 dollar was one of the first struck. What they can't prove is that it was THE first one struck. They know it was one of the first because it is from the earliest known die stage, and in fact is the only piece known from that die stage. Because the coin has PL surfaces they claim it was a presentation strike and therefore the first one struck. I argue that if they polished the dies to make a presentation strike out of the first coin (Which would make sense, this WAS a big deal.) The dies would still be polished and the next few pieces would also have PL surfaces. What argues AGAINST that coin being the first is; If you were going to all this trouble to make a ceremonial presentation piece out of the first coin struck, what kind of planchet would you chose to strike it on? They had over 2,000 planchets on hand. Wouldn't you chose one of the proper weight and as blemish free as possible? The planchet for the $10M so called presentation first struck dollar was under weight, holed, had a silver plug put in it making it over weight, and then scraped on both sides with a file to adjust it back down to the proper weight. (The plug and adjustment marks are both still visible on the "presentation" coin.)
Was bored, flipped to the Coin Vault. They are pre-selling 2015 bullion ASE's for $29.95 each + S/H. I think their S/H is $9.95. What a deal....(sarcasm) I pre-ordered 2 from APMEX for $20.93 each with free shipping about a month ago.
