Because, every so often, like a couple days ago, I was in a local store, and they had the good ole "We need $1's and $5's" sign taped up by the cash register, and I told the cashier that "If you're having trouble with shortages of $1 and $5 bills, you should try using $2 bills as well" and the cashier just remarked "Yeah, that would be nice" I really think that, even though many people do not carry $2 bills, these stores, when low on $1 and $5 bills, they should put up a sign that says "We need $1's $2's and $5's" just in case someone like me comes along that carries $2 bills when I have them available, and even though I've never seen signs that said "We need quarters" I am going to offer halves to some of these stores if they want to try them, as well. Now, I "could" carry around maybe one roll of "dollar" coins instead, but that would help kill the half's circulation, however, many years ago, when I was in the same store chain, different building/location, years before the first Golden Dollar coins came out in 2000, I had some Susan B. Anthony Dollar coins, and I was in line and the cashier said "I ran out of $1 bills! Does anyone have any $1 bills?" and I said "I got some Susan B. Anthony dollar coins. Do you want those?" and the cashier immediately said, "Yes, please. Thank you" I'll bet it didn't make too many cutomers happy for a while since they had to accept Carter Quarters, instead of $1 bills for a while. But even though I was not in the front of the line when I gave the cashier the SBAs, no one really seemed to be complaining about them, who was ahead of me.

So anyway, I'm sure someone would want to carry one to four $2 bills and/or a couple halves instead of tons of quarters if the store ran out of $1 and $5 bills again.
