https://www.ebay.com/itm/1924-S-Lin...Better-Date-/372800687918?hash=item56cca70f2e Sure doesn't look Choice BU to me. Wouldn't be the first time from this seller. Buy the coin, not the grade.
The seller can get away with it as long as he/she does not assign it a numeric grade such as MS65 or MS66. ~ Chris
That seller is trouble, everyone knows that. However, the coin itself appears to be high AU and may even be UNC (of course, it probably has problems hidden in teh pictures). You have to remember, many cents of the 20's and 30's were struck with ridiculously worn out dies.
I'm sorry but I don't see a BU designation either. Many marks in the fields on both the obverse and reverse of this coin. It looks like the seller used conserve or some other chemical to give this coin that 'wet' look.
Seems oily. EF/AU details. I guess the idea is to take a $20 coin (if it's not details) and try and sell it for 11x that price.
Yep, not a surprising price tag considering the seller. I wouldn't pay $10 for that canker sore. Coin is eons away from anything even remotely classified "AU". Sadly, these guys know that for some, shine sells, and they will eventually fetch an exorbitant sum for their junk.
