You may not think grammar is important but where you place a modifier affects the meaning of what you write. You wrote, "coins coming back different". Did you mean that the coins came back altered or that the coins you received were different coins from the ones you sent out?
I would definitely know if a coin was switched. Here is why. First I determine the variety of the coin I send in to a TPG. Then I do a diagnostic analysis of the coin, taking pictures obverse and reverse. Then I note the imperfections, scratches, and dings and where they are on the coin. I also weight the coin and use a micrometer to get the precise diameter. These are also important factors in Court when I testify and when comparing coins. Did you do all of what I mentioned? There are experts on Coin Talk that have probably testified in court or consult for the Secret Service on counterfeit and altered coins. They won't lead you astray. I don't know who cracked your case but I'm sure it wasn't the TPG. They package coins securely and immovable. In a Court of Law there is a lot to prove to prevail at trial. I compared the three pictures with the E and they are all the same coin down to the nicks and dings in the leaf area and in other areas. I hope this helps you.
Too much outside work to do to keep following this (now) pointless thread. Truly, there is nothing any of us can say or show that will convince Mr. Papineau. He is obviously his own self-proclaimed expert. Steve
they came back different. i sent in ten coin and five came back different. other people in the same situation as me.people had called me about there story, coins come back cleaned and different there could be thousands that this is happening to .some day they will be exposed
I sent some coins to be sold not so long ago. They were very high grade, but raw. The possibity existed that they were worth tens of thoudands. I took extensive photos to protect myself. Well, I was never informed of anything until a few weeks later when I received a check for less than I had paid for the set. After they subtracted huge fees. Given the potential for fraud, the process should be transparent. I should have been notified of the sale, with links to each coin. So I could check against my photos and monitor it. Nothing. This kind of behavior reeks of fraud. What is to prevent it if this is normal? It is human nature to take advantage when possible, and methods like this make it almost predictable. I dont understand the hostility here when its probably, almost inevitably, true.
No company is going to put their reputation and livelihood at risk for a very small gain and I'm sure their employees are vetted thoroughly.
@james papineau We still haven’t seen any pictures of said coin in a holder, we haven’t seen full pictures of the coin in question before you sent it in. All we have seen is a bunch of blurry out of focus partial pictures and what looks like stock photos from somewhere? I don’t believe you even own any of the coins you speak of. I believe you are lying so put up or shut up. It is obvious when looking at your post history that it always goes this way. Give it a rest and go find another forum to cry wolf at we don’t want to hear it. Reed.
As I stated in post #14, the OP's issues were addressed in a previous 7-page thread: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/co...coin-done-by-major-coin-company-anacs.310930/ So, why has the OP resurrected the same issues a year later? I think the OP is just another troll. Edit: Mods, please consider closing this thread.
Who did you have sell your coins? Certainly not one of the grading services since they don’t sell coins.
Just in general ANACS coins do actually wobble in the shipping box. That said cracked holders with them from splinter type cracks has been an issue where they internally crack, at one point it was a big issue not sure if they have addressed it with better plastic or not. You don't send your coins to the TPGs to be sold so whatever you are talking about has absolutely nothing to do with them. His comment has nothing to do with the TPGs either.
@littlehugger Again we have the same problem we run into, NO PICTURES. We can’t discuss hypothetical situations thinking that there are actually coins involved here. You said you have good pics let’s see them. We all like to see nice coin pictures. Reed.
Starting a little trouble huh? I have known quite a few folks that you would never think, ever start trouble you are wrong. They have gone down from the same exact thing, just different situation. Wrong it may be, but I have learned to trust as far AS I can throw. But for MR @james papineau you are speaking with some very knowledgeable numismatists and collectors. Even @baseball21 LOL. Give us some good photos, some that we may be able to scrutinize
