My grandmother sent my wife and I a package containing a few gifts. We couldn't wait so we opened them. One of the presents that was addressed to me really stumped me: A box of See's peanut brittle. I didn't get it, as I am not a huge fan of peanut brittle. I set it aside, and we went and used the $20 Carl's Jr. (Hardees for you east-coasters.) and had her home-made chocolate fudge for desert.

3 days later we are sitting there and she says to me "Hey, why don't we give the peanut brittle to my dad, he really loves that stuff!" I said sure, as I couldn't possibly eat an entire box...but I decided to open the box and take just a piece or two for me. Good thing I did! My Grammy was being a trickster! Upon opening the box I saw a TON of tissue paper "This is not peanut brittle!" I said! I grabbed a huge wad of tissue paper and I felt something round...it felt like a roll of quarters. It indeed was!

As I took the roll out of the tissue I saw that it was a hand-rapped roll. Immediately I am thinking "OMG, my Grammy got me a whole roll of silver quarters!!" I opened one end and saw a standard state-hood quarter. I opened the other end and saw a 198? quarter...so then my mind goes to "Hmm, I bet she placed dummies on the ends!" So, I start to slide the wrapper off of the quarters and to my astonishment I see clad after clad after clad..."This is not like Grammy" says I. Then about $3 in I see my first silver quarter! Wooo! A 1941! I needed that one! Another $2.50 or so and I see my second! A 1944-D! Needed that one too! My Grammy totally loaded a roll with 2 silver quarters! I used the other $9.50 for laundry as I really needed to wash some clothes!

The other item in the box was a 50 state hood quarters folder totally filled out! I think she got that idea from my wife...I totally needed to work on filling out that folder, and now I have them all. I totally appreciate it, but my wife gets the wrong ideas some times. I said "I really would like to work on getting all the state quarters collected WITH YOU hun." as I am trying to ease my wife into numismatics. So, instead of telling my Grammy about the 1932D or S quarter I have wanted for AGES!! she tells her about the 50 state hood quarters! I love her to death, but she is a total goof.

Just wanted to share! Maybe on Christmas morning more coins will find their way to me?!?! I have a Barber quarter riding on the Packers doing better than the 49ers in the playoffs.
