    Copper pennies were made up through part of 1982 when they transitioned to the "modern" 8 micron thin copper plated zinc core cent.

    I don't know about the FG thing but your cent has seen better days.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

    Have you never looked at the reverse of a Lincoln Memorial cent?

    It's at the bottom to the right of the base of the memorial

    @Minnlou
    I'm sure the cent experts would need to see a nice clear, in focus image of the reverse.

    the missing FG, whether from greased filled die or abrading is very minor but means absolutely nothing on a coin in the condition your is in...

    It's copper and with no photo of the reverse a missing FG would be on the right side of the memorial base and be caused by a grease filled Die. From the obverse photos you'll get no extra value.

    My bad. For two things: 1) Writing that answer; 2) For trying to edit it within seconds of writing it, because I knew it was bogus information. I thought I had deleted the post, left the house, and came back to find that the original post without my deletion efforts still stood. It's dangerous to give an old guy like me a laptop.
