I never was an errors/variety guy. Two years ago this 2019 MAD dime showed up in my pocket. It was fun for me finding a minor error in my pocket change so I hung onto it……. Since then two more slightly MAD dimes showed up in my change and I set them in the “to be sorted” box in my safe…. Well, my safe is maxed out…. So my question to you guys is this… Are these so minor that you guys that are tuned into errors and such would release them back into the wild or would you hang onto them?
The examples that are really MAD I keep. The rest I release. There are so many that it doesn't make sense in holding on to them.
Randy, sooooo....add a new safe!...what's that you say...no more space in the room???...add a new room! Did you forget the old axiom "When you are totally out of room, don't let that be a deterrent!" (That said, I find them to be spend worthy...or else you will turn into the MAD one!)
Showing photos of one side only prevents us from reliably weighing in on your question Randy. Can you post the reverses next to their corresponding obverses?
Ha! I have three. One large, one medium and one small. Each dedicated to its own part of my collection…. And frankly, when my wife saw me perusing safes on the web a few months back, she laid down the law…. Either me or another safe…… I have to admit. It was a tough choice….
My opinion its a spender...I find dimes like this daily in change from coffee....So minor no one is going to pay you for that ....as a variety collector they don't want to pay for major varities.... Yes most want them...but wont pony up and pay for them. Jmho.
I often feel that washers get better quality assurance being stamped out then US nickels and dimes. It seem every dime is like you posted above or die cracks....as they just mint so many...
Not sure why, but the Roosevelt dime is the most common for MADs. In fact, it's more unusual to fine one that isn't, than one that is. LOL And because of that, spenders in my book.
