I went to that store and my friend, I love the half price bucket! I also got some good stuff from the world coins area including a silver 3p coin for 25 cents! Not only that but I too got a canadian 5 cent coin, would go agian if I could! I also got some proofs from the bahamas! Flying eagle was also half priced!
My best junk box finds (and there have been many of them; oh the perils of limited budgets) are as follows: 1859 one cent (cost me 75 cents) 1858 Canada one cent (holed; still, for $1, not too shabby) 1856 10 franc gold (still not entirely sure this one is genuine; I found it in a junk box in France for about 2 euros covered in some brown grime, so perhaps the owner thought it was a copper coin? One day, I'll bring it in, but for now, it resides safely apart from my copper coins!)
Lets see the 10 Francs. (And the others.) Maybe acetone can help the grime? $115 melt value and NGC has it at $135 VF 20 and $170 XF 40.
