What do you think? Is its value destroyed?

Absolutely. Utterly. It's worthless. You might as well just send it to me. :)

Yes, me too--I will take it off your hands since it is utterly worthless.

20 K, pffft! That thing has been cleaned! Send it to me and I'll use it to level up the leg on my wobbly dining room table!

Or, maybe I'll let it sit in my type collection for a while, you know, until something better comes along. Nice coin

20K seems a lot bit overpriced. I woulda priced it in the 2-3K range, but what do I know  ?

So!! You are a time traveler from the past, as we suspected.

Hey, bring some silver from 1795, 1796, and 1797 while you are at it! Oh, GW's autograph would be nice as well. :D

Ruben, great coin, wish it were mine. Good case point. Is this coin cleaned? The fields are somewhat scratched but don't show the characterietic swirls of polishing or the lines of harsh cleaning. There is dirt/debris around the features that cleaning would have most likely removed. Is it cleaned or not? Does she or doesn't she? Only her hairdresser knows for sure.

Wheree does one get pure acetone?

Are you talking about 99.999999% laboratory grade stuff? Because you can get acetone at hardware stores, or Walmart for that matter.

I like my coins filthy dirty and covered with PVC slime - that way nobody wants to steal them! :D

The real good stuff would come from chemical supply houses, but check the purity of the stuff from hardware stores, it is probably good enough.

So is it better to clean with Nitric Acid or Hydrochloric acid?

Aetone i thought. Who was it who died drinking the acid he was cleaning his coins with?

Do older coins get more latitude with cleanings?
