I don't know much about notes but I have heard of star notes. You can Google to see if a 2009 star note has value. Usually the notes I see that are valuable are significantly older in really good condition.
It's a nice star note, from a run of 960,000, printed in June, 2013. (JF 00000001 through JF 00960000) I'd hang on to it.
Can you elaborate on that? I would have thought they'd print sequentially. Do they print in reverse order?
They are printed in sheets of 32 notes in a 4 across 8 down pattern. 960,000 notes would be 30,000 sheets. The last printing is the overprinting of the serial numbers and they are printed counting down in reverse order so that when they are cut the numbers count down through the stack.
A star note is a replacement note, inserted by the BEP to replace a note that's discovered during inspection to be damaged or has an error. Replacing the note by one from the special printing of star notes keeps the serial number of the top of each bundle consistent. otherwise instead of running for one to 100, then 101 to 200, etc. the bundle would be 1 to 101, then 102 to 201, 202 to 301, etc. Star notes are uncommon but not exceptionally rare. In excellent condition - especially with a lower serial number - they're definitely collectible by specialty collectors.
