Humpf! As good as I THINK my purchasing records and inventories are it looks like I'm still buying the same items more than once. I like what I'm buying; I just don't need two of the same thing. And it cuts into my funds for coins I don't have. And the Baltimore Whitman Show is getting close.
As a chartered member, I welcome you to the club. I hide the first coin behind the second coin. That way no one knows I have two.
I used to just put the first one somewhere and then forget where that somewhere was. Then I started putting them in Coffee-Mate buckets and sometimes forgetting where I put the Coffee-Mate buckets. Now, since I mostly just buy large, silver, Crown-size coins, I tend to buy multiples anyway. Some of my favorite medium to large coins are 1892-1893 Columbian Expo halves (about 20 or more), GB silver Crowns and half-crowns (about 10 or so), French Indo-China Piastres (about 15), Canadian silver Dollars (about 30 or more), Mexican Un Pesos (over 300 of the '57-'67 type), 10 or so of the 100 Peso type, another 10 or so of the 25 Peso type, about 50 or more of the older Peso types going way back, plus a few of so many different countries and types I can't even remember. I just look for the best price I can get on the heaviest silver coin I can get.
I never worried about buying a second possibly more likeable coin. As long as it is better than the one I have. Gotta have a good outlet, and I can see how it could become problem some. When you gonna have the next update on your variety set?
Who says that it is necessary to make a list? I can remember every coin that I have ever bought. They're round! ~ Chris
I tend to remember what I have. However there are some types/varieties that I have many multiples of simply because I enjoy them
