[QUOTE="PittsburghMom, post: 1963230, member: 34903"]I was trying to make a quick run to the grocery store a few minutes ago and happened to be passing the bread isle when I heard that special clink, clink, clink of silver. If sharks can smell blood from miles away, then I'm convinced that coin collectors can hear silver from far, far away!

By the time I got there, the boys (Around age 19 - 20) had already dumped most of their change into the machine. The only ones left by the time I got my cart over there were 40% Kennedy's (1965 - 1969) and one lonely 1953-S quarter that has an odd looking mint mark. I haven't had time to research any of them yet, but did weigh them. Many look to be uncirculated. To make the situation funnier, the guys offered to sell me $18.25 worth of coins for $16 since the cashier told them that she couldn't accept 50 cent pieces. I couldn't do that though and paid the full price. One of the kids said that he found the bag under his bed and had been given them as a kid. He couldn't have cared less about them.

Lesson learned - Don't gift coins to kids unless you put a warning sign on the bag!
