How nice of them! Surely that's worth the added price of admission... I'm glad you followed up with this as it sets a good example of the danger in jumping to conclusions; from your earlier post, I (and surely others) assumed that he was trying to gouge you even though this obviously wasn't the case. Of course, if they would've fit into said envelope it would have been cheaper like you said, but we should always remember that eBay is the world's largest yard sale as opposed to a venue strictly populated by professionals. Not everyone knows and/or thinks the same as we do, and is, or at least can be, a tradeoff that comes with choosing this venue over others. That said, and not that you care, but if you're really just 19, I think you've shown a fairness and wisdom well beyond your years with how you've handled this. Far too many would have tried to wiggle their way out of the purchase instead of shouldering the responsibility for their mistake; a sincere kudos for being the better person, and for setting a fine example for others, young sir.
I did not "weasel" out of my mistake. He had a return policy. I was saving him the hassle of shipping something that I did not want because it wasn't priced fairly - and I do include shipping costs as part of the price. He had poor feedback that was hidden as good because people were afraid to tell the truth for fear of retribution. I just chose not to be another victim. I offered a way that I paid for my mistake, and he made money and could pull the same crap on someone else, oh great and omniscient one!
Not to get in this argument but your statement seems to make you the omniscient one, as you know what peoples feedback was meant and not what they actually left. What is "Hidden Feedback" and why would someone be fearful of retribution as you can't leave retaliatory feedback on eBay I thought.
Hidden Feedback is saying something negative in a comment, but posting it as positive, i.e., "Coin was ok, but shipping a bit excessive." 5*****
Well, my hero.... Oh, and now this horrible person had, gasp, "hidden feedback" that, well, wasn't actually hidden, and that you easily could have read before choosing to click that bid/buy button. Not only that, but if you, as claimed, in fact do consider shipping costs as part of the price, this again only goes to show that the ONLY person you're a "victim" of is yourself. This is becoming genuinely comical, other than the hip boots necessary to wade through this nonsense. Let's be honest here, shall we? The more you write and try to paint the other guy as bad, or being wholly responsible for your actions, the more you're outing yourself as the entire cause of whatever problems you've experienced. I'm sorry, but sometimes it's best to admit a mistake and quit while you're ahead...
This has to be the most senseless post made here today, especially since someone's looking in the mirror and seeing only rainbows is exactly what started this. Go figure.
I can't believe people that click the button and later try to blame or screw the seller because they did not take the time to read what they were doing. We all make mistakes. Honest people live with them and don't blame others.
Back to the original point of this thread... Do you think we could form a CT posse to take care of numismatically related injustices? I know quite a few crazy looking dudes that I'm sure would love to help. Sorry you got taken though @TypeCoin971793 trust me though, we've all been there. Imagine going to local shows before the internet as a kid, I was getting taken and didn't even realize it until several years later when things became easier to research.
I guess I will update this thread with my side of the story. I never heard back from the show organizer, so I never got in touch with the dealer. I since decided to just eat the cost of the note as a $100+ loss is not so bad in the long run. In addition, this past weekend I bought a coin that I would normally not buy (large gold) and flipped it such that it more than covered my loss on this note. All's well now.
And bacon. Don't forget. Bacon sammiches all around. @TypeCoin971793 - I'm sorry you got hosed, regardless of how much or how little you might or might not have been an accomplice in your own undoing. Sounds like thievery was in the air. Literally. Ten bucks for Wi-Fi access? Owch. That is ridiculous and absurd and I have never heard of such a thing. Wow.
Neither have I and begs the question of why couldn't one simply use data, or their phone as a hotspot if using a tablet?
My cell phone does not do data (and even if it did, I had no service while inside the building), and none of my other devices are cellular.
I only joined the world of mobile data a few months ago. My old phone didn't have it, either. I can sympathize. Boy, I sure love having it now.
