Just because you're upset about a deal doesn't mean you should lash out at a YN's perfectly innocent comment.

Whether you overpaid for it or not I think it's a cool banknote and you should enjoy having it in your collection. We all overpay from time to time. I remember something very similar happened to me when I was in Israel at a antiquities gallery and was out of data on my crummy international plan. I asked myself if the coin was worth it to me at that price if I never knew what it was worth. Turns out I overpaid but still have and like the coin.

I figure you can track him down and try to undue the deal or you can enjoy your new banknote. Either way letting yourself get angry about it only means you let that dealer swindle you out of $100 AND your good mood...

The only collectors I know that haven’t at least once overpaid for a note or coin are collectors that collect strictly from circulation.

I call it tuition. Next time, I bet you opt for the WiFi.

If it makes you feel any better i was on ebay, and saw a set of 100 of those gold and platinum plated state quarters that are worth nothing, and the initial bid was under face value, so i placed a bid... only to realize there was 20 dollar shipping. I am still kicking myself... should receive it by next week and then I'll really be depressed when i can see then... and be unable to get rid of them.

ace, if you bought them to sell them as it seems you did then that is different.
And buying those to flip would be a big mistake IMHO

I understood the OP to be a collector and wanting to hold them but (which would be different) I may be wrong.

Honestly i bought them to give out to kids at the library i work at, and the price was under face... meaning there was 25 dollars in quarters but the starting bid was 20.

If you refuse to pay, and are contacted, then you can say the shipping is a gouge.
And a hidden fee. I don't think they suspend your account for 1 non payment.

@TypeCoin971793 , don't feel too bad. As was said, you got something you wanted for something you didn't want.

Now you have to decide if every time you look at that note will it eat you up inside? If so, sell it. Cut your financial losses, and save the heartache.

I once bought a 1800 bust dollar for way too much. I hate that coin with a passion. It was all I could muster to (finally) send it in to get graded, in hopes the grading authenticity will bump up the value even a hair. It'll come back as harshly cleaned, (over) dipped, and grafitti. About the worst looking bust out there. I 'wanted' a bust, and was going to stop at nothing.

The lesson that I learned is; don't buy a danged thing unless you know what you're buying. I have stopped buying things because 'they're cool', 'I don't have one', and 'it's got to be worth so much more'.

I've over paid for things. We all have. I've also gotten some nice bargains.
In the long run, that money isn't going to be the difference between life and death.
You learned a valuable lesson cheap, and you have a cool note.

Looks like a bust many would love to own to me.
Sure I see a cleaning but how many will never own one at all...

You can give him one star on postage. I had a similar thing happen, and I told the guy I wanted to return it before he sent it and I would give him $5, or the bad feedback, his choice.

Great.... so now we're suggesting members avoid taking responsibility for their actions unless of benefit to them?

I certainly will not defend $20 shipping on such a set, but no one forced ace to bid. If anything, he should give himself a pat on the back for being man enough to keep his word.

And wasn't it also your choice to bid/buy, or did the seller somehow force you into doing so? It's funny how others, and particularly sellers, must make a choice and deal with the consequences, but buyers.... nah.

I had the choice to bid, but I don't usually associate with people that will take advantage of their own mother. Once bitten, once shy. I can leave a poor review for poor service. I don't leave a 20% tip to a waitress that just drops a plate of food at my table with the bill. Actions have consequences.

    What a bunch of baloney.

Where was the poor service in your earlier post? Oh, that's right; it wasn't mentioned because there wasn't any. Remember, you openly admitted to demanding to cancel before the item was even shipped, and this little tidbit renders your waitress comparison meaningless as well.

You're right about one thing, though; actions should have consequences, and your action of making that choice you're so fond of should have rightly resulted in being forced to honor it instead of weaseling out by hiding behind a cowardly eBay policy.

Not that i want to hijack the thread, but to all who care, the coins arrived, with postage costing more than 20 (the seller didn't use the large priority flat rate they said they would). In my opinion the products could've fit into a large one so i don't know what he/she didn't use it, it would've saved them money. I was just concerned that they charged me for a large, and were going to send it to me in a small priority, because i don't think that's right.

You live and you learn, i am i going to miss that 19 dollars? Not particularly.

The seller received excellent feedback from me.

Just so I understand you correctly, it cost the seller more than the $20 charged to ship?

That is correct... shipped in like a like large rodent trapping box, I thought that was funny.
