No nickels yet so there is someone out there who will be the first. I'd submit for grading a 2009 nickel and dime as quickly as possible. You know people pay top dollar to be the first to get a graded sample

    Here are some facinating numbers....

The first one I posted, which closes tomorrow has had 968 views (it will get over 1000 easily) and 82 have it on their watch list and 18 bids.

The 2nd one, which closes in 3 hours has had 185 views, has 39 watchers, and 10 bids.

That's a lot of people interested.....

    Bobbeth -- you're famous!

Perhaps in part driven by an article on your dime by MintNewsBlog!!

Yes, that link was posted yesterday and I've actually put a couple of comments at the bottom of that article. It links my auction so I'm sure that is a good reason that so many people have gone there....

We are at $19.01 for the one that closes shortly
And $31.02 for the one that closes a little while later

The first one sold for $19.01 + $2.25 shipping. Not bad for an experiment on a dime. The 2nd one is at $31.02 which is strange because it went from $24 to $31 while the 2nd one was lower.

The 2nd one has had 1048 views with a little over a day to go....

    Very interesting.

Once there are more than that one, how can you tell it's the first?

I think he put the first one up for a 3-day auction, and the second one up for a 1-day auction.

Bonus question: does anyone here own a pre-2009 Roosie Dime that is worth over $30 ?? :)

You can always get an official statement from PCGS. Shouldnt be too hard to do, right???

This will probably sound crazy, but look at how different the lighting was between the two. The first one has the lower light giving it somewhat of a unique, warm color to it. Your second one was a bright, more harsh pic making it look more like a common dime. IMO, the pics were the difference. As crazy as it seems. The first pic is the type I usually try to stay away from, personally. Although it looks good, it's not a real true representation of the color. But, that's the type of pic that make people "have to have it." It looks special.

Very interesting comments Vess. The first one was taken under a lamp and the 2nd one outside in the sun. I wonder if that was it. Facinating.

if the mint stop producing it. then the 2009 dime and nickel rolls will be the most rolls being hoarded by the collectors, investors and dealers. the rolls mintage will be the highest. thus in the near future. it is but another face value coin. just look at westward nickels.

Yes, I do. In fact, I have two. 1 clad, 1 silver. The silver is the key date 1949-S MS-66 in a real old PCGS slab, and the clad is a 1982 No-P that is also slabbed by PCGS in MS-63.

The clad is actually the more valuable of the two.

    $19! HOLY SMOKES!
Well, now I wonder what the first one will go for ;)

I wonder if, too, the dynamic might be related to timing. If I recall, the one that has more bids and a higher price was the first one up, right?

The first ones who sold rolls of "the formative years with first day cancellation" got a lot more money then they are getting now.

    OTOH, these auctions overlap.

On the other, other, hand, bidding on ebay isn't always logical. (Duh!)

It is all crazy, but I'll take $19 for a 1 in 96 million dime anyday....lol.
