And speaking of the dimes......I am down to about 21 BU dimes left and the price continues to erode with all of the sellers now. So, I put up two lots of four (that's how I have been selling them for more than a week) and one lot of 10 just to be done with it. Then I'll be down to just a few which I will keep to maybe include with other items in a package deal. My run is near ended. Of course, I still have about 10-12 circulated ones....

And Manny, WOW, what a cool find...an entire roll of 90% Kennedys....awesome!

But hey Im sure youve made out like a bandit. I just spoke to my dad yesterday and the news coming out of his area is that the main branch were he got the supply from has finished distributing 09 nickels and dimes to the surrounding banks. He told me he has a few connections in other branches so the chances are good that he'll score even more nickels. At this time the dime rolls although good to sell but you can get more nickel rolls and spending less money. Im hoping to help dad bring down some of his credit cards so Im trying to load up on as many rolls as possible.

Its weird because it seems all coins on Ebay are coming from the very same place

He did manage to score 20 rolls of nickels at the main branch and he's going on a scavenger hunt to get more. Funny cause my dad said so many times "Stop pulling my leg"

Yep, when I tell my friends that I've grossed $1800 or so selling current year dimes, they don't believe me. :mouth:

Manny I know being in the army you need the money. But if the supply from the only known source (Puerto Rico) has dried up, you need to hold on to as many of these rolls for yourself as you can. Because when the other sellers quickly sell out, you literally name your price. Today's price of $382 will look like you gave them away.

My grandfather taught me a long time ago that the secret to success in business is to never be greedy. Be content with only a reasonable profit over your costs, say, 10%. Ever since then, having followed my grandfather's advice, I can sit here and proudly say to you all, I'm a huge success in business. And all I've been doing is taking a product that cost me $10, say, adding 10%, and selling it for $20.

Uh, your math doesn't seem to work. I believe $10 to $20 is 100% markup.

Danr I know you told me you're a pig farmer, but I don't believe you stated the quote in the correct format. I believe what you meant to say was: "I don't have any nickels, I hope they fall in price". I do believe the term 'sour grapes' perhaps apply to your feelings of being left out. I have a saying also, "the rich get richer".

Oh ever think of moving to Cuba, your philosophy fits right in.

They guy who won that auction backed out because of unforseen financial problems. So i took his word for it but he must reimburse me the fees i incurred in the auction. FV fees alone was nearly $15.

Anyways The news took me by surprise and it enforces the fact that these are very limited at least for now. Luckily he has a few connections in addition to the main branch so we may get some more but as it looks now our supply has dried up.

I'm pretty sure the 'Official' stand of the Cuban government is against profit altogether, while the 'unofficial' stand of the people is EXACTLY the same as Manny's - Get it while you can, as much as you can.

I'm not saying it's a BAD thing - its just the way it is.

Im getting richer temporarily but Im certainly not rich, unless of course an income of $36,000 a year with a wife and 2 kids is considered rich in today's world. Either way the good military benefits compensate but it still gets tough every once in a while.

Squeeze as much as possible and invest wisely is what i have learned because there's always a rainy day

Or that punchline may have been deliberative and explain the reason I'm a success in business...that, too. ;)
