Congrats! That seems pretty nice for the price.

My first was no beauty, but cost me only around 30 bucks, maybe six or seven years ago.

I say "my first" as if I'd had dozens of Fugio cents.

    I haven't. Just that $30-ish holey.

And this was "mine" for about 24 hours, as part of a swap deal that ended up being reversed.

That's really about it for my history with Fugio cents.

    ... for now. ;)

    Neither was I, apparently! LOL

Seriously, though, the swap just didn't pan out, so we returned to the beginning and everybody got their original coins back.

I would've enjoyed owning that piece, but couldn't have swung the $900-something in cash necessary to buy it without a trade.

I heard that not every deal works out, that must be that "one that got away".

EDIT: Congrats! I think the Fugio is a major player in the realm of US Numismatics. It total history in a bit of copper, and there is always the potential that the one you get was held by one of the Founding Fathers!

When I got my Fugio a couple of months ago, I was afraid to touch it, lol. Ever since I was a kid, I've always had the fear of leaving fingerprints on a coin, ruining it, so I usually handle them very gingerly, and mostly by the edges. I did, however, really give the Fugio a good feel vefore sending it off to ANACS (still waiting for it to come back).

Here's mine - 1787 Cross after date (no cinqefoils), pointed rays, Newman 1-B. I call it my 'Nighttime Fugio', as the sun has been worn away.

I'm looking at getting another one in about a week, we'll see.

    Thanks! PM sent.

As for the grading, I sent it along with 6 other coins to ANACS in July when they had the summer special of 8 for $75. I only sent in 7, so it cost me $10.71 for the grading. I dropped it off at the Summer FUN show, so that was my total fee.
