Wonder what this coin bought back in the North Georgia gold rush days before the Civil War? I can tell you what sort of buying power it had in 2018. Victoria has her own wheels now. Look out, World - here she comes!
Checking 1840s and 1850s wagon prices (approx. $80-250, from what I saw), it seems this coin had more wheeled-vehicle buying power in 2018! Of course that is due to the numismatic premium. It seems that $5 in 1842 = $148 approx. in 2018, after adjusting for inflation. A used 2006 Saturn Vue is probably more comfortable to ride around in than a buckboard wagon, too (even with the AC compressor not working).
Check the fuse first. Then check the compressor relay. Also make sure cooling fans are working. After that you would need a mechanic to check the charge in the system. May just need to be recharged. Worst case scenario and most expensive is that the compressor is bad. Could also be a leak in a line or in the condenser which sits in front of the radiator. Then again that old manual "wind powered" a/c works too
Dealer said it was the compressor and discounted the car accordingly. She'll just have to use the ol' 2/55 AC unit for a little while.* (* 2 windows @ 55 MPH. I've had to do that many a time with some of the old clunkers I've driven!)
There are only a few times in life when a dad can make his kids face to light up like that. Nothing feels better to a dad’s old heart than to see that. Way to go, pop.
Oh well, that was good while it lasted. Pretty sure that Saturn's a goner now. Luckily everyone escaped serious injury. Wasn't Victoria's fault. The other driver just sailed right out in front of her without warning. In fact, Victoria's quick reflexes and evasive swerve may have saved both their lives. The other driver readily admitted her error. It's an all-too-easy mistake to make at that particular intersection.
Cars can be replaced. Beautiful daughters cannot...... Bought my granddaughter a car when she graduated last May. Two weeks and she had a pretty hard impact that left her bruised. And hopefully a bit smarter and more cautious too!.... Sure am glad your baby is OK.
Glad your daughter is alright and wore her seatbelt! Smart young lady! Y’all can always get some new wheels. I’ve seen too many over the years neglect to wear their seatbelt as a first responder. I never understand it as it’s such a simple thing to do.
Glad everyone is ok. Sorry about the car. Definitely not a fun experience. If i have kids they get tanks. I drove a 1975 F250 in high school. 460 cubic inch monster under the hood with a 4 barrel. My dad still has it. There isnt a thing it wouldnt pass on the highway, that is, except a gas station. It isn't that i wouldnt trust them as drivers, I just don't trust the other drivers on the road.
