I just bought a bottle of Renaissance wax

    Baking can alter the coin's appearance. That's why I use a hair dryer, blowing hot air over the coin for 5 - 10 minutes. I figure that should be enough to drive out any lingering moisture, plus it helps with the wax application.

    My Germanicus AS has some green spots on it. I baked if for half an hour in the oven at 350. I put it on a dry cloth and dobbed the wax on both sides. It melted in and this one did not really change the appearance much. Most of my Bronze coins do not have any issues but this one had a bit. Its not a high end coin so if I would have messed it up it would not be the end of the world for me.

    It is not currently used by the BM. It was used historically. No longer applied to objects, and not for a long time IIRC.

    Indeed, but I bet all of those treatments will be historic and the accession record will here purely record it for the purpose of clarity (and also in case objects require conservation again in future, as any good conservator will record everything they do!)
