    Its copper
With basic science skills you can quickly do it yourself, which someone may had before you got it.

And even rarer to find one in pristine condition with very little damage at all.:)

I did discover these over time, and will bring them up for discussion after I examine closer with my microscope I purchased, when it arrives. I think atleast one is a small date, and also have 69 s ddo and 1938 rpm I need to be sure of.

Like I said I was just wondering if it was rare because half of it is chromish black in certain areas, why the rest of it is kind of faded black from being handled And I wanted to give it to my nephew who collects coins. When I looked it up all I found was a black penny from 1971 with copper Monument on in an copper Abraham Lincoln. The chromish black In that penny was similar to mine

By comparison this one is 29 years older and had about a quarter of the number minted at thw mint in Philadelphia. The question is how rare is this one in this condition? Beat up cents can be worth some money depending on the date and mint mark and other factors such as doubling but they will always be worth more for the date and MM the less they are damaged.

So if your 1970 s is the small date variety (high 7) then it is rarer. The less damaged gives it more value still.

Cool! try getting a photo editor to crop your photos. Folks here like to see the clearest shot stright overhead with lighting at 10 and 2 o'clock if you can manage it. Full obverse and reverse like in mine. Makes it easier for people to get a good look. Full size like in your last post is best. Happy collecting.

I orderd a microscope that's digital that takes photos and video, I will have details soon. if I figure out how to use it. thanks. my phone is not a good camera, and the lighting is in my kitchen. not to mention my eyesight is not very good anymore.

cool, now make sure to get a full shot of the coin both obverse and reverse with the top of the coin at the top of the photo, please. Next, find a photo app and crop the pictures to the rim of the coin. thanks
