The 30 probably came about because his grandfather found 30 of them in a roll or something and couldn't find any more of them. Since he couldn't find anymore, there must have only been thirty of them.

The m5559 sounds like a catalog number from something like Frank Spadone or one of the other people who published lists of "varieties or errors" back then.
