I have a 1993 d steel penny

    Look again, though -- the 1993 "coin" is the diameter of a nickel. Put a cent on top of it, and you can still see the whole rim, and then some.

    Could it have started out its young life as “play money” or costume jewelry. . . (But then something went terribly wrong during delivery!?)

    Weird. Is it thicker or thinner than a real cent? I'm guessing it's aluminum. (Hey, at least it's not lead!)

    I thought it looked bent.
