One concern is looking at an anomalous mark and thinking “I can’t explain how this PMD could occur, so it must be an error”. You need to provide a theory/explanation of how the defect could occur during the minting process. There are countless ways for a coin to be damaged after it leaves the mint, but the minting and die making process is well documented and understood, so the mechanism causing the error should be identifiable.

Bag marks from reeded edge impacts have been known and documented for years (Morgan dollars anyone) and experienced members have pointed out that there is displaced metal caused by a hit or impact. While it’s nice to hope your longshot will hit, unless you can come up with a theory on how this can occur during the minting process, you're just making a sucker bet.

Do not send it to be graded/authenticated you will just be wasting money.
