So it makes me dumb cause I don't agree with you?Now that's dumb. The whole idea of bringing it here is to throw ideas around so we can all learn something new--I am now searching mint sets.ps you are not funny --Dont quit your day job
Sorry, but what is dumb, is there is a plethora of vastly experienced people on here all with the same opinion, and it is being blatantly ignored by vastly inexperienced people who think they know better. Rant over, sorry mods
Don't watch tv sorry--Some people that can't add something beneficial to a conversation usually make childish comment and laugh by themselves rather sad
Don't say it like this is rocket science.I am always reading and learning and if I knew better than I wouldn't be asking.
Nobody said that you have to read anything I have to say. Of course, I will certainly make it a point to read the drivel you have to add. Learning? You sure fooled me!
Then you are fooled rather easy.I thought you was a expert?I want to be a expert one day so I can explain things to people instead of making silly comments--Remember the chewing gum commercial where 2 out of 3 dentist recommended chewing gum.Well that enough for you but not for me-- I wanna know what that one dentist knows that the other 2 don't know.
Z The news is out. Decades of study! The number one cause of death is birth. Turns out, nothing that was ever born, didn't die.
It is as far from rocket science as it gets. It is called common sense. A brief google search will bring up many examples of these contact marks from other coins. For example. I have just finished reading the same question on two different forums and all opinions are the same. Reed marks from another coin. etc etc etc
I should have started with a Google search and I woulda avoided some comments.Same question in another forum Glad to see I'm not the only one wondering. Many of the people that follow this thread made real good points and I agree with them but that don't stop me from listening to others.
Keep in mind coins roll. I would be surprised if it matched another reeded edge exactly, and not surprised that it doesn't. Look at the shape of the squiggles across this Franklin half, from reeded edges rolling across the coin as they are ejected at the mint. I suppose there's an outside chance yours is struck through reeding fragment, but I doubt it.
just remember "bag marks" can occur at any time 2 objects hit each other with enough force to leave marks. It does not have to occur during the end of the minting process. It is any time 2 coins hit each other with enough force to create an indentation. Of course scratches, et all can also occur. Don't forget the reeded edges can get worn ... so it will vary greatly depending upon when it happened. quarter on quarter, dime or half dollar or large dollar on quarter, vice versa, (foreign coins) etc. It's like if 2 cars hit each other. Was the smashed metal done during the assembly process or sometimes afterwards .. and how can you tell ?
OMG OMG OMG send it off quick and start shopping for all the stuff you can buy. (always include the smiley if you are kidding)
