If you're going to save it for the star, that's one expensive way to collect stars. That said, it looks circulated, and the number isn't really that catchy. Face value, I'll say.

You came really close to overpaying.

rickmp was kidding with you. I'd trade it in for a nice B.U. Standing Liberty Quarter. Low serial # yes, but condition says not to keep.

It is a cool note, only has some condition issues. If it were uncirculated or crisp there would be some real value above face. As it is, rounded corners folds and discoloration, it just doesn't have a lot of value over face. You might get ten or fifteen over face for it on eBay but the fees would leave you with less than what you started with. I keep those kinds notes just for fun, but if I see something that I like better, they are gone in a heartbeat.

It's also a ladder note which does add value. Not a lot depending on the condition it appears to be in. A nice little circulated find for face. :)

In uncirculated condition, it would be worth $150-$200.
Yours look Fine at best and I would value it at $100-$110.
Most $100 note collectors want CH-CU notes unless they are very rare, yours is not.
The BEP printed more New York (B*) stars then any other district, over 1.5 million.
To me, it would be a note I would give to someone that wants it (face & shipping) and if no one wanted it, I would spend it.
