Well, its like any other boring public job...I looked at your profile Coinlover and see that your only 15. I assume you haven't had much work experience yet but when you do your first couple jobs will probably be similar. When you deal with 200+ people a day...half of whom are rude or disgusting, you can be kind of grouchy. Yes, its the job. Also, its a job that doesn't require any real skill and therefore almost anyone can do it. So, you might not get the best people either. That being said, I don't think there is a teller I work with (well maybe one) who isn't smart, friendly, and wants to help people. Many tellers are like me, people who are either in school or working on getting into school so they can move on into their careers.

I can understand someone getting crabby if someone walks in off the streets and expects to get a $25 box of cents out of the blue. The bank needs the coin to run and you only order what you expect to need. So, when you get someone requesting large amounts of coin who doesn't "need" them...I can understand why the bank might be crabby. I think a teller needs to be 50% concerned with making the customer happy and 50% concerned with helping the bank run. If you give out all the coin without any concern about filling business coin orders...you make key business customers unhappy (which, I'm sorry to say is more important to the bank than the average personal account...who might be a coin collector) and the bank doesn't run well because of the coin shortage.

Now, that being said...I think most bank tellers (myself included) would try and accommodate someone who wants to search through rolls (especially if its a customer). But, you have to remember that the bank has a limited supply and if you want a large number at one time...you might want to let them know when they are ordering so they can be ready for it. Try and put yourself in their shoes.
