Got up some new Medieval hammered coins the past few weeks. Obviously I got them at great prices then the usual rate. Henri II I decided to leave as is instead of cleaning it. Ivan I only got due to a order mix up and & credit to burn in it's price range. Edward III, (1327 - 1377 A.D.) Branching out Mat? Nice coins. The nicest looking one is the Edward II, but I really like Ivan the Terrible.
That Ivan in my favorite, though all three are sweet scores. Still need to get myself a medieval British piece of some sort.
I prefer the Henri II, the reverse stands out. I've been looking to get a Wallachian coin, but they are expensive in good grades.
all 3 cool! i don't have any hammered french coins, and recently posted my wire money...so i'll post this guy. one of my favorite of medieval hammered coins.
I agree with Bing, the Edward II is the best looking one, but that Ivan the Terrible piece is way cool. Congrats!
Some cool additions Mat. Even though it wasn't planed, I like that one of Ivan a lot. I only a few right now, I think they are cool, just havent gotten around to getting anymore yet. Maximillion II Hungary England, James I, 1603 1625
Very nice coins. P.S. I don't know if the one below was hammered, but it is locally listed at a starting price of more or less $38. The seller identifies it as a "Silver 'Long Cross' penny - King Henry III 1216-1272 - Ref 42MY"...
I am glad so many of you also like "Medieval coinage" ! My favorites are from the Low Countries.... Flanders/Brabant/Artois/Liege/Cambrai/Tournai.
