I wish! My insect collection is only worth around 1.3 million, so can get 20 or so different Emperors Aurei....
I would need "Donald Trumps" fortune to get mostly all Roman AV coins:)!!!!
Sadly:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:( that dream will never come true, but smaller ones will.....
Cyrrhus my friend....you are right about coin auctions. So much nice material, that usually sells for prices that are beyond our budgets. I thinks most coins have had crazy prices. One example: AV Henry VIII Sovereign good EF sold
    1935 700 UK Pounds
    1955 1500
    1970 5000
    1995 130,000
    2015 345,000 !

I think indeed investing in coins, houses, stone other things is smart to do.
Only you still need to enjoy living, so choises to be made daily.
Anyway my healty is very good so I keep on going, one day I also need to sell my coins, paintings, statues....I feel...

Thanks for making me feel better. For one of my last acquisitions I just paid 7X estimate!!! I think some auction firms also do that to get bidders interested. They have bidding which opens at X, and a reserve met at Y. Why do they even have bidding under the reserve price?

To generate excitement, to get more people to participate, and to brag to potential consignors that they had pre-sale estimates at say $1 million but got $10 million instead! Its an old game.

The only insects I like to collect are the ones preserved in Amber. Don't have any yet though, I'm not experienced enough in buying an authentic fossilized piece.
